For 2019, rather than focus on a number of books and rushing to reach the goal, I want to finish the books I’ve started.
As usual, I AM still aiming for 12 books this year, but my main focus will be on finishing those partially started ones.
If I decide I don’t want to finish it, then I can let it go: de-clutter it.
If I finish it, then I can decide who will benefit most: me by keeping it for reference later, or someone in need of the messages or stories.
Here are the books currently on my to be read pile which I have started significantly. I am not counting books where I have a bookmark 3 pages in, I’m focusing on those already 50% read which are most likely to be of interest since I made it so far, and the most recently-started.
And of course, progress and a sense of achievement is one of the strongest motivators for humans.
So books I can finish faster because I’m half way through them… that will generally be faster to teach the end and feel progress than starting a book only 5% in.
So. Here’s my Goodreads link for those who want to friend me, and here’s my current list.
The Chimp Paradox by Steve Peters – 60%
The Hounds of the Mórrígan by Pat O’Shea – 59%
The Spirit Rebellion by Rachel Aaron – 57%
The Celestine Vision by James Redfield – 45%
Life & Laughing: My Story by Michael McIntyre – 29%
20 Master Plots: And How to Build Them by Ronald B. Tobias – 16%
Mindfulness & the Art of Drawing by Wendy Ann Greenhalgh – 7%
Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth – 1% [Started last week, finished the first book last month]
(Progress unknown on GR but significant enough)
The Complete Fairy Tales by Oscar Wilde
Hooked: Write Fiction That Grabs Reader by Les Edgerton
Code of the Samurai – Thomas Cleary
Nonviolent Communication – Marshall B. Rosenberg PhD
Self Esteem – Gael Lindenfield
Dare to Lead – Brené Brown
Spirits of the Sacred Grove by Emma Restall Orr
Lichgates by S.M. Boyce
I have left out a few editing books as they are less “read from beginning to end” for me and are more reference in style.
My ‘goal’ is still going to be complete after 12 books, but I’m hoping with this little reminder of those I’m part-way through, I can finish a few of them.
